Staff
ELC teaching staff are all native English speakers who have the relevant educational qualifications. They have school classroom experience in developing English literacy with international children. This experience has often been gained at the top international schools where they have been able to able to work with children who learn English as a second language. ELC teachers have a range of educational qualifications including university degrees in teaching and we have senior members of staff with a masters degree in education as well. ELC fully supports their ongoing training and development.
Our Educational Director - Susan
Susan Ballantyne is our Educational Director. She has over 30 years primary school teaching experience, 10 years of which has been as a school principal. Her role will be to ensure that ELC develops a high level of professional teaching competence so that we achieve student progress. She is responsible for developing the curriculum, purchasing resources to support teaching and training teachers. She also manages the assessments of all children throughout the year so that their progress is documented.
Our English Teacher – Sally Willmett
Sally is a fully qualified primary school teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from Queensland University. She has 6 years experience in teaching children in Australia and the U.K. Sally’s hometown is Brisbane but she has spent the last 2 years in London. We welcome Sally to the ELC teaching team.
Our English Teacher – Jaylyn
Hello, my name is Jaylyn Elek. I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I am a primary trained teacher with a Bachelor's of Education with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan as well as a Bachelor's of Arts in History from the same University. I am also a certified Library Technician. I have spent the last 3 years teaching a regular school curriculum (American and Canadian) to ESL/EFL students in the Middle East. During this time I have lived one year in the United Arab Emirates and two in Saudi Arabia. I also have six years of Middle Years experience as a Library Technician in Canada. I am extremely excited to be a member of the English Learning Centre of Budapest.
Our English teacher – Victor Holeczy
Victor Holeczy teaches at the English Learning Centre as our Foundation English teacher. Victor is an American who came to Budapest four years ago to teach English to novice learners. He has specialised in helping students who attend the British International School of Budapest who have insufficient English and need extra help. He has worked with children of different nationalities and incorporates his love of music and sports into classes with playing musical learning games and some more energetic activities that help children learn.
Assistant - Zsofia Toth
Zsofi is a classroom assistant and administrative support. She will assist the teachers in class where it is beneficial to have special attention given to students such as having the children read to her.
